We found Still Being Molly through links on Pinterest to her finance posts and just loved her passion for ethical shopping and Chipotle. Order of those priorities depends on the day! We chatted with her today about her style, building her blog and getting ready for baby #2.
Tell us a little about you and your blog.
Hey, hey! I’m Molly Stillman. I write the blog still being molly. For over eight years, I’ve been writing about fashion and beauty, sharing some of my favorite recipes, DIY and crafting ideas, home decor inspiration, and I even write about MONEY. Yes, money… how to save it, spend it, get out of debt, and more. But most of all, I love writing about and sharing little personal glimpses of my life. I also post a lot of pictures of my cute kid.
I’m married to John and we have one daughter named Lilly (the aforementioned cute kid) and we have two dogs named Audrey Hepburn and Tater. We are expecting our second child in February of 2016! I am so thankful that the Lord has blessed me with the opportunity to create, write, and encourage others for a LIVING. When I’m not writing or creating or hanging out with my family, I’m probably eating a Chipotle burrito, because I believe that all good things happen at Chipotle.
You talk about so much on your blog -- beauty, diy, motherhood -- what is your favorite?
This is SUCH a hard question because honestly, I only write about what I truly love and am passionate about. However, I have to say that I really enjoy some of the “deeper” things that I share. When I really get to stretch my own skills… whether it’s writing something very personal, almost like a narrative… or if I’m working on a post in a series like my Money series or my Blogging series. Those are the posts that really push me. I love a challenge!
What do you want visitors to take away from your corner of the internet?
My goal for EVERY blog post is that the reader walks away inspired in some way shape or form. Maybe it’s inspired to try a new look or style. Maybe it’s inspired to try out a recipe. Maybe it’s inspired to think creatively. Or maybe it’s even something deeper like being inspired to get out of debt or pursue a passion or dream. There’s so much negativity and “tough stuff” in this world… the goal of my blog is to get away from that and help people see the beauty in everything… big AND small!
You're about to welcome baby #2! What scares you and excites you about having another baby?
Honestly, being a mother is one of the toughest and best jobs ever. EVER. I so look forward to welcoming another child into our home because I know that this baby is only going to add so much joy and love to our family. I also can’t wait to see Lilly as a big sister… I know that’s going to be just the best.
What has surprised you most about motherhood?
Honestly, how much FUN it is. Yes, it has its hard days. Yes, it has its challenges. Yes, parenting is very much trial and error… but honestly, being a mom is FUN. My daughter is two now and this age is just so much fun. She’s so interactive, she’s so playful, and she’s really brought out the kid in me again, which I’m so thankful for!
What do you want to remember about this phase of your life?
Just that it’s so fleeting and to treasure every single second. I know how quickly it goes and I don’t want to take ANY of it for granted. Not one bit.
