Thanksgiving is such a wonderful holiday-a holiday when we reflect on all of our many blessings and spend time with our loved ones. It is also a weekend full of food and treats. Every year, it seems like the Monday after Thanksgiving is my “detox day.”
To start my detox this year, I visited a lovely farmers market last weekend and picked up some fresh fruits and vegetables. One of my favorite ways to cleanse my body of all of the junk is to juice fresh fruits and veggies in my juicer. This is not an endorsement at all, but I have the Jack LaLane Jr Juicer, and I LOVE it! It is one of the kitchen appliances I use the most.
Nothing compares to freshly juiced produce and the healing effects on your body can’t be found anywhere else. Juicing helps your body absorb nutrients quicker, and also keeps your body regular (if you know what I mean!) Really, any fruit and/or vegetable is going to be great, and I have been known to empty out my produce drawers into my juicer. This year, my post-Thanksgiving juice blend included chard, carrots, celery, apples, spinach, and a beet. I know, I know, a beet! Most people resist adding a beet to any juice, but it really gives the juice a beautiful red color and is so great at cleansing your kidneys (and intestines too!) Try this one out; I bet you’ll be surprised how good it tastes!
