I’m sure you’ve looked at these darling books and asked yourself, “Why didn’t I think of that?” The idea started when Suzanne Gibbs Taylor had a genuine Harry Potter lightning bolt moment. Other mash ups were making a splash on the literary scene, like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer and Taylor wondered why she couldn’t find a mash up of classic literature for babies. She knew she could and should come up with board books that tiny hands could hold and treasure alongside bigger readers. Taylor approached illustrator Alison Oliver with the idea and asked if she could draw up a spec. They decided to kept it secret but when Alison sent over a Pride and Prejudice cover, Taylor knew that the idea was dynamite. Then Taylor brought on author Jennifer Adams to write the primers while she took over the role of the creative director and editor for the books. We love women who follow their dreams! Thanks so much to these ladies for being part of our February box.
