MOMENTS WITH MOM: KAILEE WRIGHT

We love Kailee Wright’s bright and cheerful style and her enthusiasm for raising her brood of three (soon to be four!). Kailee helped select this month’s goods and today she shared some thoughts about motherhood with us. We can’t wait to find out the gender of Baby #4 right along with her!

Why did you choose to be a mother?

Since I was a little girl I had always dreamed of being mom and raising my own children. So I guess the choice was made a long time ago...I couldn't imagine life without my little people, I think I'd get bored ;)

Tell me about the moment you first found out you were going to be a mom.

I remember crying when I read the pregnancy test was positive because I was so excited that this moment was actually happening. I'm the oldest of three girls so my oldest was the first grandchild on my side and I could hardly wait to tell my mom and sisters the exciting news!

How has that changed as you've had more children?

For me, the news of becoming a mom again has always been as exciting as the first one, but through the years it has become more of a scary thing at the same time as we have numerous miscarriages within the last year or so.

What are some of your favorite family traditions?

Any chance we get, we will head down to the beach. We usually have to drag my little people out of the water after the sun has gone down. We also love to go to the lakes in Utah or just swimming at the pool + pizza is a weekly favorite. Can you tell we love the water?!

How has your personal style changed since having babies?

Haha. I'd like to say my style hasn't changed, but as I look at my sisters with no kids, I realizing that it has changed quite a bit. I tend to go for more comfortable shoes than before I had kids, or outfits that I can chase my three-year-old in at the park and not have to tug and pull at things. I love simple dresses and Converse sneakers...they are definitely an everyday staple.

What does a typical day for you look like?

Right now, I'm usually up by 5:30 am answering emails, finishing up a blogpost or any other project I have going on at the moment. Then around 7 I turn all my attention to my kids and we do breakfast, get ready and it's off to school. The rest of the day I'm doing house stuff, running errands, volunteering in my kids’ classes, or running to soccer practice or gymnastics. At naptime and once the kids are in bed I finish up any other work I have. I try to take off any night that my husband is home because it rarely happens.

What's the best advice you've ever received about motherhood?

The best advice I've received is to just slow down and enjoy the ride (or stage your in). Our little people are only little for so long and I am already seeing how fast time is passing me by.
