Today we are honored to have some thoughts from Jenna Rammell of @jennaskitchen. Jenna shares some insight into her motherhood philosophies as well as giving us some ideas to stay healthy and balanced while experiencing the highs and lows of motherhood.
Describe your motherhood style.
I am generally laid back when it comes to my kids. We definitely have rules & structure but I also like them to be able to express themselves. I constantly am trying to find a middle ground between giving them wings but also teaching them boundaries.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received about motherhood?
A woman once told me to always focus more on the good. So instead of on the Sundays in Church when the children are being crazy, I try to hurry and praise them in the moments they're being reverent. Saying "boys I'm so proud of you for listening!!! Wow you're so respectful and kind today!" Their faces light up and that feeling of praise and joy have way more of affect then punishment or blame.
How do you find time to run your business with small children at home?
I keep trying to find time but for some reason it runs away from me! Ha! 3 crazy kids will fill every moment with their needs & I'm happy to oblige. So I work during nap time and when they go to sleep. I sacrifice most of what I love to do in order to keep things running! I miss the days of TV watching & book reading but I try to make time for those things when I can.
What are some of your favorite healthy ideas for busy moms on the go?
Always have your own food. Kids are hungry a l w a y s. So be prepared. Have zip locks full of healthy snacks in your bag for when you're running errands, at the park, going swimming etc....that way when they see all the junk out there you can offer them what's in your bag instead!
What are some of your favorite things to do with your family?
We love to bike ride, swim, hike, travel. We love being outdoors and making memories!
